Yemen Garden was started in 2014 on a highly visible property owned by Sheik Omar. The growing space is 6,000 square feet and sits adjacent to a vacant house that Omar would like to eventually rebuild. The house sits in the shadow of the Ibn Bin Jabil Mosque and is next door to Omar's business office. When the mosque was established in the late 1970's the home values increased over 500% in one year, because immigrants from Yemen wanted to live close to it. Now the neighborhood is primarily Yemeni and very active in the summer. A bus stop is by the garden and it is a very welcoming place.
