It takes a lot of skill to be able to grow food sustainably. Its an art form. We need to raise agriculture up to another different level like they do in Europe where farmers are on the same level as engineers and doctors.
— Will Allen- Former NBA player, urban farmer, and founder of Growing Power

DETROIT PEPPERS or BisBas in Arabic is a small market garden in Detroit, just outside of Hamtramck in a heavily populated community of immigrants primarily from Yemen. We are going into our fourth year of operations growing a large variety of unique peppers used in many of the ethnic foods common in the community. We are developing a few unique ethnic sauces from our peppers and talking with friends in the neighborhood about growing peppers together. We would buy the peppers and use them in our sauces. The sauces we make could be sold throughout the year and all money would go towards growing this project. In 2017 we are starting a new garden in the Michigan recognized Bangladesh cultural zone also known as Banglatown.
